DIY Manicure Steps
Step 1. Trim & File
I trim and file my nails almost every week to maintain a very short length!
Step 2. Soak Nails
Soaking your nails in warm soapy water is crucial to soften your cuticles!
Step 3. Cuticle Care
After soaking your nails, use a cuticle stick to push back and trim your cuticles. Trimming cuticles may seem intimidating, but it gets easier with practice!
Step 4: Moisturize & Apply Cuticle Oil
Apply a rich hand cream to pamper your hands. Then, apply cuticle oil to soften your nail beds and cuticles. Consider it as moisturizer for your cuticles. Apply it at bedtime for optimal results.
After applying cuticle oil, use a cotton ball to clean your nails before applying nail polish.
Step 5: Paint Your Nails
Before painting, remove any residue with nail polish remover. The Essie Gel Couture line does not require a base coat, allowing for quicker drying!
When painting, apply at least two coats by stroking down the center and on each side. Finish with a top coat, making sure to paint the tips of your nails for a professional touch.
